The Squad
A cohort of ministry-leaders empowering warriors to find healing + fulfill their next mission
The Squad is for you if you areâ
â a church, nonprofit, our minister leader who wants to connect with and serve veteran
â a veteranâ and wondered if something could be done to help others like you but you werenât sure where to beginÂ
â a family member or close friendâ and want tools to build a bridgeÂ
We're here to help...
We want to help you start veteran outreach as well as sustain it. Here's the process.
 Step 1 = 45-minute workshop
Attend a live evening (best) or online, on-demand training, during which weâll outline the process and youâll identity your next step
Step 2 = Attend the training
If you move forward, attend a live training (3.5 hours), which builds on the workshop. Weâll present the process and give you the tools.
Step 3 = Implement the strategy
Use the resources provided for you to begin serving. As leaders emerge, send them to step #1 and repeat.
Yes, it will work for you!
(Maybe you tried before and it didn't.)
đşđ¸ Veterans comprise about 7% of the U.S. population, according to stats. In some areas, such as our home state (Alabama), the numbers go as high as 10%â a significant portion of the population.
đşđ¸ Veterans are highly skilled AND mission-driven AND have a propensity to push forward until the job is done. But, to fully engage, they want a mission worth giving their life for.
đşđ¸ Veterans understand processes with projected outcomes. If youâre a leader, you do to. Theyâ and youâ can do it. You just need a system that works.
đşđ¸ Veterans are aware of PTSD, Moral Injury, Addiction, and other struggles many of us face. They will open-up and talkâ if itâs a judgment-free zone and you know what youâre talking about.
ButâŚ
đ You might be worried that you donât have the proper credentials to have the conversations you need to have, youâre not sure where to meet veterans, andâŚ
đ Youâre not sure how to get startedâ even though you want to.
You can do it; we can help!
We've been at it for over a decade!
In 2014, Crosswinds released our first documentary, Invisible Scars, a ground-breaking exposition on PTSD and how it relates to military-trauma. Though a common term now, a decade ago very few people were discussing PTSD. Even now, few people understand it.Â
Our first film is still a go-to resource for many.
In 2017, we released a follow-up documentary, Honoring the Code. While shooting the first film, we learned of a second âsoul wound,â Moral Injuryâ a common occurrence when soldiers must do something that violates their conscience or core beliefs (i.e., such as killing, experiencing survivorâs guilt).
In 2018, we launched a small group curriculums and video workshops, Warrior Hope, designed to equip warriors to find healing.
We also launched a new podcast which continues today.
In 2020, we published a book to address the needs to the entire family, recognizing that anything which touches one family member affects them all. At the same time, we also began the groundwork for a documentary (released in 2023, Trauma Comes Home: the Battle for the Warrior Family).
In 2023, we released Disentangled, a 6-week Bible study which takes warriors on a journey through Scripture to understand who a warrior is, the cost warriors pay (PTSD, Moral Injury, and more), how to find healing and move into a next mission.
We recognize that many leaders like you have a passion to serve warriors...
However,Â
âď¸ they need the tools
âď¸ they need the training
Thatâs why we created The Squad

What Others Say
Cody Brister
MSgt USAF, Alabama Air National Guard
Pastor, Crossbridge Church, Birmingham, AL
Service comes at a cost and often with a great burden. [Crosswinds' resources]Â focus on the struggle military members and their families face, the war within the mind.
As a pastor and veteran, I relate to this struggle, and I carry my own burdens from service. Iâve had to rapidly deploy into the fight and almost just as rapidly redeploy back into everyday life.
I wish I had a resource like this to help me navigate the things Iâve entangled myself with.
Jim Mukoyama
Major General, US Army (Ret.)
[Crosswinds' resources] are a must read for our military community before, during, and after deployment. It will equip the Warrior and their loved ones to be prepared for the spiritual warfare ahead, how to deal with it in the midst of the battle, and how to achieve hope and healing by disentangling upon return â all of this grounded in faith and community.
This foundation gave me and millions of past and present warriors a peace of mind resulting in joy in life.
It is yours for the receiving.
Ginger Branson
LTC US Army (Ret.)
It taught me PTSD and Moral Injury are not new issues for soldiers (warriors) or first responders. Using Biblical references and quotes, I learned that these conditions were suffered by Godâs warriors all the way back to the early Old Testament.
...when we are in the military service, we are, indeed, entangled in our mission. But when we return, this âentanglementâ in that mission ends, and we now have to return to home, family, friends, and jobs. This book explains that transition, and leads us in becoming âdisentangledâ from our wartime mission, and becoming âre-entangledâ with our home mission.
Staff Ouderkirk
Col. USAF (Ret.)
... we are unwittingly blindsided by the mixture and complexities of life, including the traumas of Military Service.
As a 30-year veteran, I can relate. The diversity and issues we encounter as veterans and family complicates (entangles) our daily lives and if not addressed they never leave us.
[Crosswinds' resources] Â offer insight of the Bible that brings out the most poignant examples of how man turns to God for help no matter how dire the situation.
